Pre and Post-partum Physical Therapy

Many women experience pain while pregnant due to sacro-iliac joint laxity, ribcage changes, abdominal discomfort, round ligament pain, pelvic floor pain, low back pain, etc. Most of these conditions can be easily treated while pregnant.

Post-partum there are many considerations. For those with vaginal birth there are the questions of pelvic floor muscle strength, urinary incontinence, return to intercourse, return to exercise, diastasis recti (the separation of the abdominal wall muscles), pelvic organ prolapse and others. For those with C-sections, there are issues surrounding the C-section scar. Much of this can be addressed in a few physical therapy visits.
